Sitting on your suitcase to close it...and other pre-departure chaos

T-minus 14 days until departure, and I thought I'd better do a 'test pack' to see if my hiking pack would be big enough to take... jokes on me, it's not. So we'll be off to Anaconda tomorrow to buy a bigger bag, and not for the first time in my life, I am thanking myself for my unmatched levels of organisation.

After the 'test pack' debacle I thought it would be a good idea to try and organise yet another aspect of my life...my calendar for the next 14 days. This also turned into a disaster of conflicting events and competing priorities as my numerous loved ones (lol... all 5 of them) vied for my time and attention. Add in some job interviews, working, selling my car, mum & dad recently having arrived home and some medical appointments, and I'm not quite sure how I'm going to manage for to get it all done. But we will soldier on despite this adversity. Haha.

On to the big stuff... I've honestly spent the last 2 months NOT being excited for this trip anymore, and instead being filling with dread at the thought of it, and thus ignoring its existence at all costs. However, I booked my flight a few days ago, and I'm starting to feel cautiously excited about going. There are still lots of unknowns ahead of me, but that's the point right... no one thrives inside their comfort zone, and oddly, I hate being inside mine (even if it is damn...well...comfy).

This trip is for me - and me alone - and while I consider myself an old hat at travelling in general, something about this trip in particular has greater importance than the rest, with heavy tones of 'eat, pray, love' and self-discovery and reigniting passions, and reminding myself of the type of life I'm trying to build for myself.

While the old adage may say "Catch flights, not feelings", this time, we're planning to catch both.
